Ladies Room

Year: 2007

Extra info:
The director spent three months filming in the ladies room of a crowded Oxford pub trying to find out whether women are tyrants or victims when it comes to men. While the film illustrates how contemporary women are still compelled to perceive sexuality, marriage and motherhood within an unbending traditional framework, it also shows how relentlessly they struggle to overcome these ties and emancipate themselves. The documentary finally reveals its true mood by personally engaging with the women interviewed, some of whom show degrees of disenchantment, bitterness and irony.
